The Lodge at Walcox Point

A Lakefront Home Designed for Gathering

Project Type: Whole-Home Lakefront Renovation
Design Style: Modern Farmhouse
Design Scope: Full Renovation Design
Bedrooms: 5
Bathrooms: 4

Situated on 2.5 private acres along the shores of Weiss Lake, The Lodge at Walcox Point is a thoughtfully renovated lakefront retreat designed to bring people together. Surrounded by water on three sides and offering approximately 850 feet of private shoreline, the property presented a remarkable opportunity to create a home centered around its natural setting.

1720 Designs provided the full renovation design, reimagining the home to accommodate large families and groups while making the lake a defining part of the experience.

Designed Around the View

The renovated layout was carefully planned to capture waterfront views throughout the home. Expanded sightlines, generous gathering spaces, and a strong connection between the interior and exterior allow guests to experience the beauty of Weiss Lake from nearly every room.

The design combines the relaxed character of a lake house with the clean, welcoming details of a modern farmhouse. Vaulted ceilings, abundant natural light, comfortable finishes, and preserved architectural character create a retreat that feels both refined and approachable.

Spaces That Bring People Together

At the heart of The Lodge is a spacious family room designed for conversation, relaxation, and time spent together. The adjoining dining area features a custom table with seating for ten, providing plenty of room for shared meals, games, and memorable evenings overlooking the water.

The newly renovated kitchen supports both everyday use and large gatherings with stainless-steel appliances, generous solid-surface countertops, and an open connection to the primary living spaces.

With five bedrooms and four bathrooms, the home comfortably accommodates as many as 18 guests. Private king suites, flexible guest rooms, and a large bunk room allow multiple families to stay together without sacrificing comfort.

Preserving the Property’s Character

One of the most distinctive features of Walcox Point is its historic stonework. Original fireplaces dating to the early 1900s remain important focal points within the property, connecting the renovated home to the craftsmanship and history of the site.

Rather than competing with these existing elements, the updated design complements them with warm materials, comfortable furnishings, and an understated modern farmhouse aesthetic.

Indoor-Outdoor Lake Living

The waterfront porch extends the gathering spaces toward the lake and provides a peaceful place for morning coffee, sunsets, and quiet conversation. Just beyond the home, guests have direct access to the water, a private dock, and an on-site boat launch.

Every part of the renovation was intended to make lake living feel effortless—whether guests are gathering around the table, relaxing beside the fireplace, spending the day on the water, or simply enjoying the view.

A Destination for Lasting Memories

Today, The Lodge at Walcox Point is more than a renovated lake house. It is a thoughtfully designed destination where families and friends can slow down, reconnect, and create lasting memories along one of Alabama’s most beautiful lakes.
